Kentucky Aluminum Network

The production and processing of aluminum is big business in Northwest Kentucky and it is big business in Kentucky. As one of the state’s signature industries, aluminum is responsible for nearly 10,000 jobs in the Commonwealth. And with more than a third of all US aluminum production focused in this region, it is easy to understand why.
Yet, for the all the importance of this signature industry, there is no statewide voice for aluminum. The interests of these companies and the communities that support them are not represented broadly to the state, media, or other stakeholders.
Northwest Kentucky Forward has joined with Rio Tinto Alcan, Hydro Aluminum, Eastern Alloys, Henderson Riverport Authority, and aluminum companies and supporters from through the state to form the Kentucky Aluminum Network or KAN. KAN is really an outgrowth of NWKF local aluminum group, Northwest Kentucky Aluminum Network.
NWKF believes that a vibrant and growing aluminum industry is important to retaining and growing good jobs in our region. We are working for the aluminum industry; put us to work for your industry.
Marketing
Northwest Kentucky Forward works aggressively to market our region to both companies looking to grow new facilities and to consultants who help companies make location decisions. As a result, we are always on the lookout for opportunities to tell our story to these decision makers.
In the last few weeks, NWKF has participated in marketing missions to the Dallas and Austin, Texas, areas, participated in a national meeting that included 1000 leading broker consultants, and met with projects in Canada that are interested in opportunities in our region.

Shovel Ready and Certified
Northwest Kentucky offers a dozen shovel ready industrial and business parks. The largest of these is 4-Star Park. Located adjacent to I-69/Breathitt Parkway, the park covers approximately 1000 acres. Water, sewer, natural gas and fiber are available throughout the park and Big Rivers Electric operates a power plant nearly across the street providing a great source of reliable, affordable electricity.
Recently, additional water and sewer lines were extended in the park and Shooting Star Court was added opening an additional 120-acres to development. Finally, plans are being finalized to create a Foreign Trade Zone within the park.
